AKPA — POCHETTE
Akpa, meaning "bag" in Igbo, is one of Udiri's most compact everyday objects. Designed to hold life's smaller necessities, it balances utility with quiet refinement.
Crafted from washable cellulose fibre, the pochette is lightweight, durable, and shaped for daily use. Its compact form makes it an easy companion for travel, organisation, and the everyday movement between places.
Inside, an indigo-dyed Funtua lining brings depth and order, while a hand-rolled paper bead tassel finishes the inner zip with a quiet Udiri signature. The front motif is hand-stamped by a Malian artisan, leaving a subtle imprint of craft and continuity.
The pochette carries Aya™ and Rogo™ surface patterns developed within the Udiri studio. Named after tigernut and cassava, these proprietary patterns trace their origins to agricultural knowledge familiar to many of the women who contribute to Udiri's work. Reimagined as contemporary surface design, they connect memory, material, and object.
Designed as a quiet companion for everyday ritual.
